Advice for others
Stay for at least 3 days to check out all the landmarks and shops. Bring a good rain jacket, comfortable walking shoes, and layers. The weather changes fast, and many streets are made of uneven stone. There’s also a viral coffee shop everyone recommends, but honestly, it was overrated.
What I did
I wandered around Old Town and tried blood puding at a restaurant, which I highly recommend. I also checked out a really cool Frankenstein themed multi-level bar that felt very "Edinburgh" with live music!
Extra details
The locals were incredibly friendly whenever I needed help and made the city feel less intimidating. If you have extra time, renting a car and driving to the Isle of Skye is totally worth it. Just know that drivers under 26 get hit with extra rental fees.

Our vision

Our story

We're built on one simple idea:
Travelers Helping Travelers.

Helpful reviews, location specific tips, real travelers — all in one place.

Why we exist

Searching for useful advice shouldn't suck.

There's too much noise online and not enough real insight into what a place is really like - without having 7+ open tabs. Travelers have the insights, why not come together in one place to help each other out?

Founder Jesse West
from RMT's Creator
I started to build RateMyTravels after I still felt unprepared after spending hours researching for my study abroad semester in Sweden.

I kept running into the same problem traveling throughout Europe too. Sometimes I couldn't find any advice. Even when I did, it was scattered across the internet, too generic, or felt over-promotional.

I didn't just need useful advice — I needed better insights, and in one place.

So I built a platform where travelers can share their own experiences for what places are actually like, what they wish they knew, and anything they'd do differently.

It's simple. Just travelers helping travelers have better trips.
